About the company

Cainiao is Alibaba’s logistics company, with cross-border parcel delivery, warehouses, sorting centres and a large network of parcel pick-up stations. Alibaba launched it on 28 May 2013 with eight partner companies, and it is headquartered in Hangzhou. In March 2024 Alibaba said it would buy the remaining 36 per cent it did not yet own. In 2026 its website listed more than 1,100 warehouses with about 16.5 million m² of floor space, over 380 sorting centres and more than 170,000 pick-up stations.

Belgium and Europe

Cainiao runs an e-commerce logistics hub at Liège Airport. The first phase, a 30,000 m² hall inaugurated in late 2021, created 276 jobs. In October 2025 Cainiao dropped the planned second and third phases, but the existing hub remains in operation.
