China Academy of Art中国美术学院

The China Academy of Art trains artists, designers and architects. Cai Yuanpei founded it in Hangzhou on 26 March 1928 as the National Academy of Art, with Lin Fengmian as its first president; it took its current name in 1993. Its Xiangshan campus in Zhuantang, Xihu District, was designed by Wang Shu, dean of its School of Architecture, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2012; work on a new Liangzhu campus began in January 2019. Alumni include the painters Zao Wou-ki, Chu Teh-Chun and Wu Guanzhong.
