About the company
Jack Ma’s foundation, for rural teachers
Jack Ma taught English in Hangzhou for six years before founding Alibaba. His foundation mainly supports education in rural China: teachers, head teachers and boarding schools. Since 2025 the teachers have also received AI training. Outside China it runs Africa’s Business Heroes, with $1.5 million in prize money every year for African entrepreneurs.
In spring 2020 the foundation donated 300,000 face masks to Belgium, via Alibaba’s hub at Liège Airport.
