T-Head Semiconductor designs processors and chips for Alibaba, including XuanTie RISC-V processors, the Yitian 710 server chip and AI chips. The Alibaba subsidiary was spun out of the DAMO Academy research lab in September 2018; that April Alibaba had announced the takeover of C-Sky Microsystems, a Hangzhou designer of embedded processor cores founded in 2001. The XuanTie 910 and the Hanguang 800 AI chip followed in 2019, and the 5-nanometre Yitian 710 server chip in 2021. In September 2025 T-Head unveiled its PPU series of AI chips, which China Unicom uses.
